Candy Chang
Confessions
Confessions is a participatory installation that explores public rituals for catharsis and compassion. Inspired by Japanese Shinto shrine prayer walls and Catholic practices, Candy Chang invites visitors to write and submit a confession on a wooden plaque in the privacy of a confession booth.
Candy is a leader in participatory public art. Through the activation of public spaces around the world, Candy Chang creates work that examines the dynamics between society and the psyche, the threshold between isolation and community, and the role of ritual in wellbeing. Her work lies at the intersection of contemplative practice and the built environment.
