Intersection
Intersection is a responsive sound installation controlled by an
audience. Visitors enter a darkened space where the sounds of car
traffic randomly move across the space. Visitors can stop the traffic
within a lane by standing in front of an approaching car, causing it to
screech to a stop, and followed by subsequent cars smashing into the back of the stopped car. A stopped car will accelerate and continue moving across the space only after a visitor moves out of its lane.
Don Ritter is a Canadian artist who has created interactive electronic installations for over thirty years. He creates systems in which the human body and computers interact with one another. His goal is to create aesthetic experiences that are both physically and mentally stimulating.
